Thought I'd have a watch of this looking back haha I think the "Whore-gay" Lorenzo call (really mate, you are the VO for a race youtube channel 😂) is a bit much here, even for 7 years ago. Marc is 100% into #3 these days behind Casey and Vale, possibly pushing for #2 but I just watch Casey's races and the pure skill and insanity he put on the track and can't possibly put him lower than #2 when Vale himself says that he is the fastest he has ever ridden against. If not for crippling anxiety, chronic fatigue and a lifetime of injuries from pushing every bike he has ever got on to the limit and beyond, I have no doubt he would have surpassed Vale and held him to fewer titles. But, reality is reality. If Marc can come back and claim another title after the 2022 recovery it would be a hard argument to make against the #1 spot aside from the talent Vale had to compete against.

1997 French Gp. It was my third ever race and I recorded it on VHS. I used to have it on as background noise a lot. Absolute domination from him. The rain came and he stayed out on slicks and despite going off and recovering, still won the race by a big margin to Frentzen 1997 Monaco GP. The first race I ever saw. A masterclass in the wet where he led by 4 seconds by the end of lap 1. He did the same in Spa that year The 2006 Brazilian GP. His courageous fightback after having to start 10th for a gearbox penalty then a puncture and nearly being lapped by Felipe Massa in 1st place. He climbed to 4th. His last win in 2006 at China strategically beating Alonso and Fisichella When he surpassed Ayrton Senna in wins and broke down crying in the interview room The list goes on and on.

Senna had declined during his final season because his car was a death trap. He could smoke anyone in a decent car and get the best out of it. I wish he’d stayed at McLaren so he would still be here now.
